Washington, DC- Pioneering Hip-Hop artist Darryl "DMC" McDaniels of Run-DMC is entering a new phase of his career, dropping the familiar Devastating Mic Controller (DMC) moniker for something much more profound: Deliver My Children. The rapper's critically acclaimed one-hour VH1 "Rock Doc'" documentary, My Adoption Journey has been nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Arts & Culture Programming, during the September 16 awards ceremony. "To be nominated for such a prestigious award means the documentary did what it was supposed to do, it touched people,” said DMC
The Rap Icon will be in the nation’s capital on September 21st for an exclusive interview with National Syndicated Radio Personality Russ Parr to promote a foster care walk on Saturday, September 22nd, 2007 at West Potomac Park in Washington, DC
DMC will sit down one-on-one and talk exclusively about problems plaguing the foster care system on the Russ Parr Morning Show on Friday Sept 21st.
Parr is heard locally on (93.9) WKYS-FM and across the US on 49 stations. Founder of W.H.A.L.E.R.’s Creation, the non-profit organization that promote foster care and adoption spearheading the walk said she’s thrilled to have DMC back again this year as the Chairperson for the walk, “He represents the depth in which children in the foster care system can soar in achieving their fullest potential with love, nurturing and guidance. Become a foster/adoptive parent, because when you touch a rock you touch the past and when you touch a child you touch the future,” said La’Toria Hickmon Kern.
Last year, more than 2,000 participated in the walk. It is free but donations are accepted.
