John F Kennedy is known as the 35th President of the United States. During his life in political office, he owned and lived in many homes in the District of Columbia. The area of focus is Georgetown. Although Georgetown is a small section in northwest Washington, DC, this was the home to many African Americans and American politicians.

Gentrification is the method that was used to changed the cultural landscape of Georgetown from a predominately black area to a very upscale mostly white and rich area. During the early days of the gentrification process, the high profile elected federal government officials moved into Georgetown. This creditable gave way to the change in majority African American community. John F Kennedy and his family lived in Georgetown and threw many parties in each home. The new elite allowed the up town parties on 16th street to move down near the Potomac in the small area of Georgetown.
