At a recent DMV event, this national organization honored community leaders. The 100 Black Men of Greater Washington, DC (100 BMGWDC) hosted its 5th Annual Legacy Awards Gala on Friday, April 9th, 2010 at The Grand Hyatt. The theme was “Our Children: The Next Legacy.” The Gala Chair is Real Estate Mogul R. Donahue Peebles.
The 100 BMGWDC is a chapter of 100 Black Men of America, Inc., an organization with 106 chapters and 10,000 members across the country and around the world that touch the lives of more than 100,000 kids each year. The 100 BMGWDC has 15 years of experience in improving the quality of life for African-Americans – particularly young males—in the Greater Washington, DC area, through programs focusing on mentoring, education, health and wellness, and economic development. The organization’s motto is “Real Men Giving Real Time®”.
The Legacy Awards highlight the achievements of local and national companies, organizations and individuals who make contributions which positively impact the communities and the lives of youth. The 2010 Legacy Awards Honorees were:
