Day one of the Essence Music festival was full of fun and adventure. Half of the floor seats cost a 1000 each therefore, the seats where filled by high profile or high rollers.
The lounge acts were great with acts such as Irvin Mayfield, Mary Mary, Irma Thomas Chrisette Michele, Big Sam, Arrested Development, Ruben Studdard, and War. As you know Mary Mary, Chrisette, and Ruben Studdard lounges were filled and , if you did not get there on time, you were going to be waiting. Ruben Studdard only did one set therefore, there was not another full lounge show. Arrested Development and War held their own too.
Studdard is keeping the weight off and Michele is sporting a low hair cutt which is blond. One can assume Solange started the short hair revolution in the entertainment industry cause Janet Jackson was without a weave too.
On the main stage at the Essence Music Festival, Monica, Raphael Saadiq, Charlie Wilson and Janet Jackson held it down. Although I missed Monica, I did not hear any complaints about her performance.
Raphael Saadiq did a great show along with Charlie Wilson and his hats and long array of songs. Wilson can just pull songs of his hat. Janet Jackson was good but a shocker on one of her songs.
In one of the songs, Jackson was dressed as a dominatrix. She pulled some random dude on stage and basically molested him. The array of dancer look as if they were literally having a sexual orgy on stage similar to True Blood season 2. Janet had this random dude in bondage and felt the crack of his azz while his clothing was on but, the guy was suspended in the air. Once the guy was let down to the floor and un tied, Jackson felt his crotch area and groped him like a dude would grope him self in the crotch area. It was totally wild and not for the kids the crowd mouths were open but ,they cheered or, they were horny too.
