The radio game is good when you are winning but sad when you are not number one. After all, the radio game is a business. The radio personality has to bring in listeners while the station as a company has to advertise that personality and market the personality. Well, lets say ,the radio is suppose to market their staff. Once the personality builds an audience, he or she is measured by an out side source which potential advertisers look at to determine if they want to run ads at the station. The ad's bring in revenue to the pays bills. Although Aribtron's PPM application may have problems and be basis, this outside tool is used to determine who keeps their job in the radio industry.
Micheal Basiden has a new syndicated program showing up in some of his syndicated markets. The new personality is Monique (Mo'nique). Although Monique is known as a comic and actress, she in the past has been apart of radio. Although speculation has people thinking Monique used radio to pad her income, she turns a profit for the radio stations and no one cares about why she is in radio.
Basiden a part time basement author may have problems with Monique because she is a bigger brand. When it comes to advertising her as personality, Monique's name is known to many people and , she as an individual is known too. If the PPM starts to count high for Monique, some of the Basiden fans may have to say good bye to him in various broadcasting markets.
