As a woman gets older her looks change, her hair thins and her weight becomes harder to control. Wrinkles try to creep in and show her age so that it is a constant battle to keep that youthful image. As a woman tries to preserve her looks another area that will keep her feeling good about herself is her inner beauty - this includes her vaginal area.
As her body is experiencing changes on the outside, her internal organs and muscles are going through the same process. Some organs don't function as well and her reproductive system begins to transform itself as menopause looms on the horizon. As a woman ages the vagina's walls become thinner and lose their elasticity becoming looser and less rigid.
Vaginal secretions become rarer and will be inconsistent so that the vaginal tissues will decrease and become shorter and thinner. Other changes can include vaginal dryness that can increase the risk of infection and with menopause and its hormonal imbalance there is an even higher risk. With vaginal dryness sexual intercourse can be painfull and uncomfortable since the vagina is so dry, there is no lubrication. This in turn will irritate the vaginal walls causing them to further deteriorate.
A vaginal prolapse or dropping of the vagina out of position can occur and this in turn can lead to urinary incontinence. A vaginal prolapse may require surgery to correct it although a temporary measure is the insertion of a pessary into the vagina to support the surrounding organs and the walls of the vagina. As she reaches menopause the hormone count decreases which has more detrimental effects on the vaginal area.
If any or all of these problems start occurring, a woman's self-esteem can deteriorate quickly along with her body's aging organs. As her self worth diminishes, a woman will be more likely to avoid sexual activity, particularly if it is painful or if she feels that her genital area is unsightly due to enlarged vagina or labia from childbirth. This is especially troublesome because as women age they loose pubic hair, exposing the aging genitalia. All of these problems become more and more significant the more she looks in the mirror and sees an aging woman.
A vaginoplasty and labiaplasty can help to repair any vaginal or incontinence issues and reduce both labia minora and majora to a more youthful and aesthetically pleasing look that will give a woman back her self confidence and a feeling of freshness and youth. Some describe it as a renewed feeling and a glimse at the young inner beauty that once was. This procedure can alter her whole outlook when sexual activity becomes pleasureable again and her partner enjoys the benefits of someone who feels more confident and self assured.
The psychological effect of these procedures is enormous, and a woman feels that she has turned back the clock and she starts to feel better about herself. A simple one to two hour procedure (depending on what is being done)can make a dramatic difference in a woman's life when she realizes that there are positive things that she can do to slow down the aging process from the inside out keeping her inner beauty even as she ages.
