Actress Christa Campbell Trades Fangs for Fast-Paced Action in Upcoming Film, Lies and Illusions

Actress Christa Campbell is taking a step in a new direction: trading fangs for fast-paced action. The horror film queen, known for her roles in films like 2001 Maniacs, Day of the Dead, and Wickerman, is starring in Lies and Illusions, a film about a novelist being hunted by a spy who believes he holds millions of dollars in diamonds, stolen by the novelist's dead fiancée. Campbell stars opposite of Christian Slater (novelist) and Cuba Gooding Jr. (spy).

Lies and Illusions, directed by Tibor Takács, depicts the story of Wes Wilson, an award-winning novelist whose fiancée, Samantha, is abducted by spies. After the abduction, Wes finds that Samantha's life was not what it appeared to be, that she was a spy herself, and was believed to be in possession of millions of dollars worth of stolen diamonds. Campbell plays Nicole Williams, Wilson's new love interest, who turns out to be in on the entire scheme. The rest of the story will unfold when the movie is released in December of this year, and Campbell is excited to be a part of the action-packed thriller.

"I love horror films," says Campbell. "But I felt like now was a good time to branch out. I've been working on a few comedies, and the release of Lies and Illusions at the end of this year is very exciting."

Horror fans, however, need not be afraid. Campbell isn't abandoning the genre; in fact, she spent last weekend attending the Fangoria Convention in Los Angeles.

"I had a great time at the Fangoria Convention hanging out and signing posters at the Anchor Bay Starrz Booth," says Campbell. "I really enjoyed working on different projects like Lies and Illusions and Finding Bliss, but I'm certainly not writing horror off for good."
